Getting to know Michael
Michael was an amazing young man! He loved his family, his girlfriend, and his many friends. He had an extremely contagious smile with a loving and friendly personality to match. He was known by many as "a clown" due to his ability to always make you laugh and bring a smile to your face. Beyond his happy personality, Michael was a great student and athlete. He had just completed his freshman year at Cascade High School, and was looking forward to his sophmore year. During his freshman year he competed on the school's cross country team, basketball team, and baseball team. He had decided he was going to go out for the football team in 10th grade. Michael wanted the full high school experience, he wanted to do everything he could and enjoy every minute of it.
Outside of school and sports, Michael was everything you could ask for in a kid. He was kind, friendly, hard working, and determined to go far in life. When Michael was first diagnosed, and after the doctors left the room, Michael's first words were "I can't wait to be able to say I beat cancer". Unfortuantely, Michael didn't get to say those words. But that's not to say he didn't put up a good fight. He was a true cancer warrior who fought with bravery, strength, and courage all the way! He became a hero to many, and inspired many people during his fight, and continues to do so even now.
